I'm sure when I ended things they were so shocked because they taught they were involved with a dark-skinned women who would be lucky if any guy talked to them so she would hold onto them for as long as she could. So when I left them, their egos were extremely bruised. When someone views you that way, it is quite evident in their actions.

When I was dating guys outside of my race that was a whole other mess. First thing first I was always their secret. I could come over to the house and hang but not meet the family.

These men fetishized my skin and black girl features in private, but didn't value me enough to involve me in their public lives. They thought by calling me chocolate, and African Queen that they would compensate for all the other things they were lacking. I feel like all women go through this, especially women of color. Some men think we are a joyride, an experience, an adventure- we are not.

That is not love and I had to learn not to let their attention blind me from seeing their true intentions. I was good enough for sex or to dance with at a party, but never enough to wife. They wanted women who had a fairer complexion, with finer hair and lighter eyes so when the game of genetics was complete their daughters would look more like their mother than their fathers. This did not make me sad for myself but for my brothers. How can you, a beautiful black man not want beautiful black children?

When your beautiful black parents created you — did they think you were ugly or did they worship the beautiful child they created? Dating, in general, is hard — but dating as a dark skin black women has come with hardships I never expected. We dark skin girls have to really evaluate these men because for so many years dark skin has and is a crime and that conditioning has done damage to all aspects of our lives. This damage has clearly manifested itself in the ways they view the women in their lives.

However, it is not impossible for us to find healthy relationships — and I have had some. I have found men who value me as a human and who value and love my skin tone, not in a degrading manner at all. Most importantly, I have found peace with myself and I will never let anyone try to force me into thinking that I deserve some second hand, dried up, half-assed, self-conscious love! I used to break out all the time and be super self-conscience about it before I talked to my dermatologist about how to manage it.

Because, for some, acne won't go away with all-natural minimalistic products. Here are some tips I've learned, steps I've taken, and the products all on Amazon I use that have changed my skincare game completely.

It may seem like a lot, but the results are worth the hassle - especially for those of us who actually do need a lot of skincare products. Wash with benzoyl peroxide face wash and facial cleansing brush. Rinse with lukewarm water with a soft, white washcloth benzoyl peroxide will bleach over time.

Cleanse and tone with two homemade essential oil toners with cotton pads. Remove eye makeup with oil-free eye makeup remover using cotton pads. Remove face makeup with micellar water using cotton pads.

Cleanse face with stubborn acne control Clearasil pads. Wash with benzoyl peroxide face wash no facial cleansing brush. Rinse with lukewarm water and white washcloth.

Apply a light layer of glycolic acid acne serum. Add two drops of maracuja oil every other night around eyes and mouth. Please note all items are in stock as of the time of publication. Put on your leggings and cold weather gear because we're going outside!

I am a college student who is always trying to find ways to get out of the gym so I have found six ways, on campus where you can do a full body workout or cardio at the same intensity or higher than in the crowded field house. I have worked with Jynell Petrosino, a personal trainer on what exercises create the perfect balanced workout.

It really can be that easy to just tie up a pair of sneakers and put your headphones in and call it a day. A minute run can be a full workout if you put in the work. Try running from your dorm and go through Houghton House and continue into the lush fall colors of White Springs Road. This spot has one steep hill and a nice flat pavement that you can easily turn into a tough workout. Look around you; there are stairs everywhere you turn at HWS.

These are really all you need to get an intense cardio burn. Take the stairs between Cozzen and the Bristol Gymnasium for example. Start at the bottom and sprint up the steps as fast as you can and once you reach the top do 10 squats, 10 pushups and 10 burpees and run back down and repeat this for a total of eight times. This will target your entire body and core because as you run you need to stay tight in the middle to keep momentum.

We are lucky enough to live in a community where nice well-kept benches surround us and chairs are accessible everywhere on campus. Next time you workout, go onto South Main Street and find a bench. Start by doing 10 step ups on each leg followed by 10 triceps dips and finish with 10 split squats on each leg. Do this for four rounds, high intensity then finish with a nice cool down run from the end of the street and back.

This will give you a great cardio and toning workout. Try being outdoors, smelling fresh air, moving in your environment. Enjoy the beautiful fall weather and embrace it. We are lucky enough to be young fit college students in Upstate New York. Full body and cardio workouts can improve your daily life so change it up once in awhile and get outside. As we start to embrace the second full week of September, there are some things I'd like to say to the month.

Back again so soon? I could swear I just saw you a few months ago. Well anyway, how are you? That's great because I'm over you already. For Alicia, the confidence of this White man indicates little more than ignorance. Yet, these companies never disclose whether these gestures, in fact, reduce the racism on their platforms, a place where Black daters continue to be ignored, humiliated, and objectified.

These dating companies should tell us whether removing the filters indeed lessened the isolation of Black daters on their platform. Is there more they can implement to address racism on their platforms? Equally important: what can daters themselves do to really see others for who they are beyond a racial category? It is time for us to use this technology for good, and not for reproducing centuries of racism.
